There is no denying that the Pentax K-30 has a variety of features that are similar to pricier DSLR cameras. The Digital SLR camera uses a glass pentaprism viewfinder and it can shoot photos up to six frames per second. In addition, the body is weather sealed. Photographers who prefer the visual finder to Live View should certainly consider the K-30 even though it does not provide a tilting rear LCD.
The D5100 from Nikon is a lighter and improved version of its predecessor, the Nikon D5000. It falls into the higher-end of entry-level DSLRs, alongside the Canon Rebel T3i. Sony’s Alpha NEX-7 puts a lot of features into its small body with its 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a sizeable 2.4M dot OLED high-resolution electronic viewfinder. It has a three-dial interface that makes for good handling while the drawback could only be finding the right lens to get the most out of the camera. It is just the right camera for the enthusiast
Nikon builds on its DSLR success with the D7000, a camera released as a full-frame option for the “prosumer” market. The D7000 is the follow-up to Nikon’s D90 model. The D7000 is a bit of a paradox; it is stealthy in that it looks too simple to be as complex as it is. The complexity is in the innards and not in its use. Nikon keeps the camera priced under $1000
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20V is the mid-range model in Sony’s trio of GPS armed travel zoom cameras, which consist of the HX10V, the HX20V, and the HX30V. All of them use the same 18.2 Megapixel sensor but, the HX10V has only a 16X zoom lens while both the HX20V and the HX30V have the larger 20X lens.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is the next in line from the evolution of the EOS 5D Mark II. The Mark II was one of Canon’ best sellers among its professional-level single shutter DSLR cameras. The new Canon EOS M will be priced at around $800 and is currently available for pre order in most countries. At this price tag it can definitely be considered a high end digital camera option, with the EOS M arriving in compact form rather than the bulkier DSLR EOS that came prior to this model. Panasonic’s newest release to the realm of the mid range DSLR is the Lumix DMC-G5. Normally we have seen some pretty positive things from Panasonic and the Lumix range, catering for all budgets and level of enthusiasm for photography. Now the DMC-G5 is set to compete with cameras such as the Fuji X10, Nikon 3200 as well as the new Canon EOS M set to release in September.
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera is a Micro Four Thirds camera expressly designed to bridge the gap between point-and-shoot cameras and full-size DSLR cameras. It is aimed at serious enthusiasts: it offers much higher performance and control than point-and-shoot cameras, but is not intended to be a professional camera.
