A promo photo I put together last night.
I'm holding the Ibanez/Bartolini active bass that I use live and for recording.
My backup Fender Jazz bass is more photogenic, but it's white and that doesn't work as well for the dark look I was going for.
A simple 2 light setup--main flash (camera left) has barndoors to control spillage, and was also hitting a mirror camera right.
A slave flash was high rear camera right, with a grid on it to give a tight little accent (not on all photos).
Only problem was that my car broke down on the way, and when the singer picked me up I forgot my amazing new shirt--had to borrow a plain one from the guitarist and the sleeves weren't long enough.
It sure makes life easier to have a photographer in the band.
I can produce whatever we need whenever it's convenient.
No waiting for someone else to show up, no discussing goals and various looks, and we keep all our money.
Our guitarist has a Mac/ProTools recording studio, and I'm a professional sound engineer, so recording our CD falls under the FREE category, too.
