We were walking in one of the many canals Hamburg has in this area... I remember those days I was reading a lot about minimalism and abstract photography so I try to make my own interpretation of the place.... Smile

I post this one in the critique forum because I am learning this kind of photography... any advice to improve is greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for looking and my work... Smile
I really like these. The more abstract ones like 3 and 4 really work for me.
I like number one the best - it really captures the place for me.

I quite like the lines in number 4. The other 2 are not as interesting to me.
I love number 1 and 2.

My only critique of #1 is that the stiars go straight into the corner of the image, I think the composition would work better for me if they didn't land exactly in the corner.
All superb, Irma. An excellent series.
Thanks a lot for your comments and reviews.... Smile

I am very happy you like this series....

I took all my pictures with a G9.. and I think for this kind of pictures this camera works really well.
#1 for me Irma. I like the high degree of abstraction in that photo.

Hmm. I hadn't noticed that this thread was in the critiques section - so I should say something with a bit more depth.

#1: Superb appreciation of color and I like how the staircase undulates from bottom left to top right. I like it a lot - the reddish band down the center gives depth to an otherwise very strong 2D composition.

#2: Again - wonderful use of color. I am not a fan of the white spaces on the top and right and that sort of fly away thingy on the top right. I can't really tell you how to correct them, but it upsets my sense of balance.

#3: Nice. It has a very nice sense of composition to it, with lots to look at in all quadrants of the shot. It is probably my least favorite of the 4 - but it is still very good, and I can see this one selling at an exhibition.

#4: I feel that this one is *near* perfect. On my monitor, the top 1/3 of the photo looks like it could use the mildest touch of contrast - but maybe not.
Thanks Pavel for your comment... Smile

Thanks Toad for your review of this series... Smile

#1 I feel really comfortable with this one. My thought when I was working in the post processing was when one is in one of those situations when you don't know whether it is best to go up or down...

#2 I tried to work in this one a more trusty color palette here. I left the lamp at the top right because I saw the half frame with the sky. I thought it could break the free space there. What it is a bit uneasy to me is to have a big lamp with a so short pole. It looks as if I had cloned out the pole to make my composition. I have tried tighter crops but they come similar to #1... Someone saw a number 7 here and that made the picture interesting for him....

#3 Yes,in this one I paid attention im my composition. I added a texture of a fisherman net to give more detail to the wall... My concern was the white square with no detail, and I left it like so, to balance color and texture in the wall. I also see a consistant desaturated color palette and the tiny purple detail to contrast.

#4 Yes, I could enhance the contrast there...
1, 2 and 4 these are what I loved much more. The colours are caught so nicely, they really hit strongly. Actually the reflection is nice on too, but the others much more impressive dear Irma, you did great again, Thank you,

with my love,
nia
They're all very good, but I think number 1 is stunning Irma. Smile
