I am asking myself what you are trying to say with this presentation, however.It adds visual interest, but what does it say about bugs? Are bugs alternately colorless and colorful? Maybe if you could speak a bit about what you are trying to do here, it would help me.

Not sure I knew what I was trying to do Just playing with color and shapes.

Interesting technique - I kinda like it. I think it would be better if more of the picture was in brighter colours, so you could tell the difference between the colour and monochrome squares.

I agree with Jules comment about the colors, and also I think that a crop to concentrate the attention in the bugs would be in fine.
