If you are not willing to see more than is visible, you won't see anything.
- Ruth Bernhard
Following on this thread, I've created a smugmug gallery to host photos that I took today to compare visible light conversions to true IR photos. And then I though, 'why not use it for a long-neglected assignment thread?'
The photos were taken inside a mall, which is about the only convenient place in Toronto to see foliage for the next few months. No tripods were used, and I had to work fairly quickly, so the compositions aren't exact matches. Anyone who's interested is welcome to play around with them, and either post your results here (no more than 800px wide, please!) or you can e-mail them back to me and I'll add them back to the gallery. (My gmail address is 'matthewpiers'.) Naturally, please include a few notes on what you've done, and if you have any other samples/examples, we'd love to see them too.

The Fine Print: The VL camera is a Canon SX20 IS, which some dolt had left on iso800, and the IR camera is a Panasonic FZ18 that has been modified to shoot in IR & has a B+W 093 (87C) filter on it. The Canon photos were shot as jpgs, and have had Auto Tone run on them in Lightroom; the Panasonic captures in Raw, and has had Auto Tone and Auto Greyscale applied to its photos. They've been sent to the smugmug gallery as sRGB and 100% quality without being resized, so feel free to download the full files (3.7 to 6MB each) or the smaller views that the gallery can automatically generate.
