Where would we be without our beloved Photoshop? Probably like a violinist without a bow, or something similar. It's amazing that this piece of software was invented 20 years ago and has been around since then. In computer terms, it's like a dinosaur.

Anyway, do watch a nice little documentary by Adobe - very interesting interviews and perspectives as well.

Incidentally - how long have you been using photoshop and what's your earliest memory of it? What version did you start on?

Here's a little something to jog your memory...

My memory is a bit fuzzy but I think I must have used either version 5 or 6 when I was in Uni - the interface layout looks very familiar.
I started with version 6 in 2000. Since then, I have spent thousands of hours with this program. Happy birthday, PhotoShop!!
Yes indeed.
Was aware of it in early 90s I think. Eventually got some freeb version of 3...or was it 5...once I was dragged into pewter-operancy, messing about with it till finally getting CS2 thanks to noisynoodle's intervention a couple of years ago.
Its use goes hand in hand with digitalia for me: sadly I'm now too lazy to continue with emulsion and I do miss the quality of it, as even 35mm with my old fave Kodak Technical Pan outdid, enlargement-wise, my FF digi-kit. PS does keep the "language" of film and light alive by dint of its terminology and interface:good job, as I doubt if many digi KitBoys could find their anatomy in a darkroom with both hands(er, an alarming image, my apologies)...but thank goodness for no ruined clothes and fixer-intoxication, dusty negs, etc;
Jolly fine tool and wide enough to allow a multiplicity of approaches.
Good point about hours: if I did the maths as regards amount of time engaged, divided by the price of the software, it adds up to a lot of enjoyment for a few pence an hour.
Started with a beta of version 5 in 1998, been using it ever since.

Before Photoshop I was a Jasc paint Shop Pro user from version 3.0 to 4.15 SE.

Actually I am new for this; my son, he introduced me with Photoshop, and he is doing amazing things, me...? Not yet Smile

Thanks,
with my love,
nia
