I have been trying to work the idea of collage with my pictures. I stared placing pictures one after the other with some idea of relationship, but nothing really worth showing. I think this series shows the idea I have.
#1
#2
Thanks so much for your comments...

I think you are being a little harsh on yourself when you say you have nothing worth showing. These pieces look pretty good to me. I like the way that you have played with the relationships between shape, color, texture, and volume simultaneously in these - and the results are definitely worth showing.
In particular, #2 grabs me. I think the pattern of leaves on the left is strong, and I think that showing the top of the wood piece on the right adds a lot of context to the piece. I really like the shadows in #2 - especially how the shadow of the grey square meets the corner of the brown rectangle. As always, your backgrounds are very strong and show evidence of all the work that you have done on your still life pieces.
I think these pieces show a lot of potential. Have you considered how you might mount and display these?
Thanks Toad....
These pictures were at the beginning only the leaves. They turned out quite nice because of the texture of the leaves and the colors, but then inspired by paintings I have seen I tried to work again the idea of collage. I also see them with more potential, and the idea is getting round. I like to see how the light works in each piece and try to make an organized composition. Telling the truth the less pieces you have the more difficult the composition is.
I am happy you mentioned the shadows. I liked the effect, I see them as if the pieces would have different depths. I also worked with pieces with different sizes and textures and used a pattern as if it were a painting. It is all very new to me but so interesting.
I framed them on dark gray because that was the color of the canvas I was working on, and I thought it isolates my work. I think I will look for something a bit modern. Maybe only canvas on stretcher frame or just a frame with no mat.... But I will take them out of the black frame.
No.2 would make a wonderful Christmas card.
Gesegnete Weihnachten und ein glückliches neues Jahr!
Don't know how I missed these. The spaces in #2 really do work in allowing all the elements to speak and relate with depth and confidence, with the added interest and questions of real and imagined shadows.
I'm also reflecting that several of us have on occasion gone for the more minimal look...and I have to say that in just about all instances the results have been very powerful and skilled.
I can imagine you would be great with textiles as a medium too, Irma.
Danke NT!
Gutes Neues Jahr für dich auch...
Thanks Zig for your comment. I feel like kid in kinder garden, working my first drawings. Learning how to use my pictures in other context, how to present them has been very entertaining...
