Hi. My name is Simon and I have dipped in and out of photography for many years. I recently went mad and bought some serious kit and have been bitten by the photography bug all over again.
I love photographing people, particularly reportage and street images.
My problem is that I'm too self critical and probably scrap perfectly good shots purely because I'm concerned that people won't like them! It's time to face my demons and let people see some of the shots I consider to be failures, and I would like to hear it from people who know their stuff - hence me joining this forum.
This recent image is one of the ones I do like however! See what you think.
The only fault I can find is that you used a 15mm lens - which I just don't like - but my personal taste apart, it is a good shot. Might be worthwhile using the the lens correction facility in Photoshop to remove the vignetting at the sides.

Hi Simon, welcome to the group.
I'm just a 'snapshot' type of photographer myself, but from what I've seen, either a 35mm or 50mm prime lens on your DSLR? might get good results.... especially if you get up close and personal to capture the character of your human objects.
Interesting comments. Thanks John.
I know what you mean regarding the fisheye and I do use it sparingly, but for some street scenes, especially those with tall buildings, I like the straight and arcing lines.
Different people are drawn to different details, thanks for your valuable feedback.

True North, thanks for your tip.
I do have a 50mm prime. I tend to use a 70-200 more so that I can keep out of the way. Maybe I should be a bit bolder and get more use out of my prime lens. Thanks.
Hello,

I like the fisheye effect. It's a bias of mine. I do think you could crop a little of the bottom of the frame. There seems to be a little empty space.
