Beautiful. She is taking it all very seriously. Nice colouring.
I have a question about the rules which may be a bit silly, so apologies in advance. It states that the competition runs from 1st of March, yet people are posting shots now. Does this mean that only shots post after that date will be considered competition entries? I know websites are usually strict about anything posted after the final date, but I am unsure what happens with things posted before the official start

Street musicians in Prague. Real characters, and one great moustache!
Hi Simon,

Quite fantastic photos you've posted here. There is something about B & W that I can't quite put my finger on, something which raises a 'good' shot to the level of outstanding or even better. Many exhibitors here are demonstrating why that is.

Regards.

Phil.
Well said Phil. Could it be that B+W imparts character to a portrait ?.
I, as yet, have no experience of utilising B+W but I find these and other submissions stunning.
By the way, hello and welcome to the forums Simon. Mike.
Thank you for your comments gentlemen.
I totally agree, black and white can create so much atmosphere and there are some brilliant examples on here.
Here's three of my black-and-whites from the last couple of months.
Hi, my first offering in this contest, I found the broken van mirror at the side of the road and thought I could do something with it.

Hi Tileman,

Another highly inventive image from one of our members, and an excellent execution as well. Very well done.

Regards.

Phil.
Here are my final two entries. Adam is 2 and Hannah is 4. Both taken on Nikon D3200. No post production except for conversion to B&W in iPhoto as I don't have any other software yet. As a beginner I am pleased with them.

That's a good question. I have been wondering the same thing. Hopefully all entries will be accepted.
Hi Joby,

Both commendable photographs. Smile Good effort on your part, well converted, you should be proud of your work.

Hello - I have seen that photos are being posted before the start of the month. The purpose of the contest is to get more people involved here on the forums and share more quality photos.

We will look at all entries since the contests are new for us, but if it comes down to a tie breaker in photos - posting following the guidelines of submission can come in to play in determining the winner.

Hope this helps you! Please let us know if you have more questions!

Thanks!
Barbara

Here is a scene I found on one of those hazy days of winter.

Jim,

First and foremost, Welcome to the Forums.

In addition you've two really great shots there in #41 & #42. You've really captured the majestic nature that 'real snow' can give to what might otherwise be a somewhat ordinary scene, and the B & W conversion looks marvelous on my screen. Thank you Smile .

The last time I remember us in the UK getting snow levels of that nature was back in 1981/2 and before that it would have been 1962/3. Both winters were bitterly cold, at least from a British perspective, with 6+ feet of snow covering most of the country. Sad

Best regards.

Phil

Thank you for your kind words on the photos and warm welcome. Fortunately (or unfortunately Rolleyes ) we get a lot of snow here in Canada quite often; though this winter has been especially bitter cold with lots of heavy snow.

Thanks for clearing up about the entry time scale. I was a little confused as to how there were 2 monthly competitions going at once. Maybe the March theme was up a little too early, but I'm new here and now I understand.
Here is my third photo
