Hello - I'm Stella and I live in Nottingham, England.
I'm a keen portrait photographer and also dabble in motorsport and animals/pets. Also recently had a go at street photography.
I own a Nikon D300 and lenses and for carrying in my pocket, a Canon D95. Also own a Canon G12, which I don't use much as it doesn't fit in my pocket! Both the Canons are fine if there is plenty of light, but disappointing when there isn't. And don't talk to me about shutter lag! Grrrr.....
Looking forward to meeting others and hopefully learning lots of stuff too. :-)
Right, where were we?
Shutter lag...
Only kidding. Welcome to the forum Stella. I use Canon stuff and for holiday shots use a G10, because its easier to fit in the bag.
Welcome to the forum! You'll find plenty of inspiration and experience amongst the contributors here, just don't be afraid to ask for advice.
i look forward to seeing some of your work

Hi Stella, Also from Nottingham.
Shutter lag! - Yes, this is what a lot of compact cameras suffer from. I have a Canon SX 210 which is otherwise a nice little camera but as you say, the dreaded shutter lag rears its ugly head, more so, I find when using the flash; and there is another draw back, - flash power. For this reason I have recently bought a Canon EOS 100D, currently the smallest D SLR on the market. I must say, in the couple of weeks or so that I have owned it, I am very pleased with it.
I also have a full frame 5D Mk II and a 60D plus an arsenal of lenses.
I am also an avid CAMRA member.- Our annual beer festival is a great place for candid photography, although I'm usually serving as a bar manager to do much myself.
