Hi
Totally new to DSLR photography and wondered if anyone could recommend a good book that would help me understand the basics..I've just bought a Nikon D3300 and don't want to be stuck on auto!
Thanks

Hello and welcome!

Glad to have you join us! I am not the expert here, but I am sure there are some members who will provide you with some possible suggestions. I do know most will also recommend starting with studying the manual. Then, there may be some other favorites among the members.

Others will be along in due time. Please let us know if you have need of anything in the future as well.
I suggest a good fun way to start to develop your understanding, is to open the following page in your web browser, and scroll down it to read the information/instructions. Then just play with the controls of the camera simulator, to see how they interact, and to see their effects on the photos:

Many thanks for that...all help gratefully received
Hi there M,
Welcome to the Forums.
One publication that I found of use was: BetterPhoto Basics by Jim Miotke.
Scott Kelby also produces good reference material.
There is a wealth of free material on the net.
If all else fails, ask on the forum. There are some real experts on here.
Enjoy yourself. By the way, I have just moved to my first DSLR , also a D3300, from a " Bridge ".
Regards, Mike.
Hi Mike
Many thanks for the recommendations, will check them out.
