I was out a couple of days ago, took one camera and 600mm of focal length... hoping to catch early rising Bears high on the mountains... the only thing that presented itself was this Deer... not very far in front of me... I really wish I was famous and Canon gave me their 200-400L IS like they gave it to Andy Rouse!!

I tried to travel light... next time its the whole 120lbs bagful!!!

Still ...

Crackers. Ed.
Thank you Ed... I just wish I had had the presence of mind to take at least two bodies with one having the 70-200 on it... could have gotten at least a whole body in the shot. Still, that's the learning process...

What's your genre by the way? I lived a long time in the Edinburgh area... would love to see some shots of the Borders?

Kind regards

Rolf

Have posted some. This should work. Ed.

You have some good images! I was on one year the Sgt.Major in charge for the evening at the Edinburgh Tattoo... and played with Ralph McTell in Deacon Brodies when his song The Streets of London was popular... Brought back many memories... loved The Fringe too... Around 1974 ish...

The wedding shot of the hands... I have photographed many a friends wedding... always let the official photographer do his thing... I just take the opportunistic simple and personal shots... the hands the touch, the looks etc... the stuff the official guy rarely hangs around to get.

You have a good varied interest and a good skill... Thank you for the share.

Kind regards

Rolf
That's why I like the Sigma I have 50-500, it's a little heavy though. Would probably not of been able to get the shot hand held. Ever since I bought my 2nd DSLR I've been in the habit of keeping them with one long and one shorter lens for such an occasion. (Now I just have to remember to grab the right one!)

Nice capture under the circumstances though Smile
Really really fine! I hope to get to that point of exquisiteness too someday.

Thanks Bob... I would normally take the 300L f2.8 on the 1D Mk lV which with the crop factor would effectively give me 390mm and the 1Ds which is full frame, with the 20-200L f2.8 but I had it in my head to try to travel light!

I borrowed a friends 50-500 late last year and was impressed ... the 4 stop IS was pretty good... considering the weight!

Thank you czkid... hardly exquisite but I take your point. Given the same circumstances I'm sure you could have done equally as well. How are you getting on with your Nikon? Been through the menus and gotten to know it a little better?
How was the Camera Club? :-)
Your name implies that you might be a motorcyclist - perhaps a Česká Zbrojovka of one capacity or another? Smile
