High in the Sierra's there is an abandoned mining town, Bodie. It is now a state park and is kept in a state of "arrested decay". It is one of my favorite places to go and shoot. it is up at about 8000' and can get some wild weather anytime of the year, been caught in a thunderstorm there twice!
Canon 300D, 1/8s, F32, ISO 100, 24mm.

Great subject... and a nice shot! I need to get out to some of the old mining ghost towns here and in BC and Saskatchewan. Like the B&W treatment... really lends itself to the period of the Church.
I was a little distracted by the bit of out building to the left... curiosity drew my eye... I hope you don't mind but I did a little work and here is my view for your consideration.

Thanks for the share... got any more like this one?
Kind regards

I do like your mono image Bob - it looks like a conversion that made use of red or orange filtration? I like the tones and detail throughout the image except, however, for the main distraction for me - the very bright path along the bottom. In my opinion, the image is improved when that is toned down, and contrast introduced there to enhance the stony surface.
Cheers.
Philip
@Rolf I have the shot with the building in, and with that one and the lighter one on the opposite side gone... depending on the day depends on which I prefer LOL. I have a few hundred shots of bodie, will try to sort some out and post them.
@MrB No coloured filter used, either in post or on the lens. Just a circular polarizer at the time of shooting, at that altitude the sky and clouds really "pop" with the CP on the camera. Converted to Mono using the Channel mixer in Photoshop, increasing blues to darken the sky. Agree on the path, needs to be less of it, and more texture on what is left behind.
@czkid Thank you
