After the success of my last posting from the Strathspey Railway (success of discussion, NOT of photo), here is another from the same place and the same day. Tell me what you think, please.

Nikon D80, 1/200 sec, f8, ISO 100, 60mm lens equivalent.
Seen more trains in the last 3 days, than in the last 50 years, also that time since I was last in one!

Nice shot, I would get rid of the lamppost. Ed.
I feel that the lamp would have been fine if I had left the wall it is attached to in the picture. There was a reason I didn't, which I can no longer recall (cannot remember what I had for breakfast!). I could have trimmed it off but I wanted to retain the milk churns below. I felt I did not have the skill or the knowledge to successfully clone it out hence the reason it is still there!
With my new found skills I have produced this compromise.

I think it improves it, really prefer it to this, long time since I seen Churns, worked for a milkman, mid 40's, could only lift the lighter ones. Ed.
That's a good shot (without the lamp) of a pleasant scene, John.

Perhaps now lift more of the detail out of the shadows, and balance that with some extra contrast, saturation and sharpening - changes which also help to bring more interest into the sky:

All great stuff guys.
My version, based on your recommendations, Philip.

Looks very good to me, John. Smile

But the main point is, and always should be, what you think of it - are you pleased with your new version?

Cheers.
Philip
Yes I am. I could see it as the lid on a jigsaw puzzle!
Never fancied shooting trains until now...!! Great stuff! Jeff
