The famous Edinburgh statue. Difficult background doesn't help this shot.

Dimage Z3, 1/100 sec, f4.5, ISO 100, 420mm lens equivalent.
Mainly due to the tiny sensor's huge depth of field, John. A long lens and wide aperture on your D80 should work much better for this subject.

I need to revisit a lot of my earlier shots with my current gear.
John, the statue lends itself to the Quick Selection Tool, to segregate it, then, Lens Blur. This is full blur, can be set anywhere. Cheers. Ed.
Ed. I did that. In the original the wall was as sharp as the statue!

I prefer the original, blurred enough to focus you on the statue and with a painterly quality, nicely done.
Perhaps remove the drainpipe from the composition, John?
