With the weather as you have described it, perhaps that feeling should be conveyed to the viewer by having warmer colour tones in the image:

It might be worth experimenting with different white balance settings in the camera.

Ed, did you notice that I had straightened and sharpened the image in Post #2? - Great minds, as they say.....
But perhaps the one in Post #4 is generally a bit dark for a bright day?

Not really, on my Monitor, I also selectively sharpened the flowers. This is the one I decided not to post. On your Monitor? Ta. Ed.
On my screens #2 looks the most natural with white whites to me.
"On your Monitor? Ta. Ed."
That one is too yellow-orange for me, Ed. However, it is of course up to Wes to decide how he would like the final image to look.
