Wes, this is by far, your best yet. What did you do to achieve this, or, not do! Still a smallish file, but that can be overcome. All I did was sharpen a bit, and lighten the foreground, not a big edit. Major progress. Ed.

Yes, a big improvement. And Ed's subtle enhancements work well.

Would appear that your camera settings are OK.
From here, you need some software that can fine tune your images.
Here is a start, Links for Mac, free software, worth investigating.
