Generally a good image. Well focussed and exposed. I love the foreground. Horizon looks a little lop sided. Only real issue is with the two "half" boats. Perhaps there was not a lot you could have done. A slightly different view point would have lost your foreground. Maybe a wider angle may have improved things, but in a busy anchorage that may have just introduced more overlapping boats. Straight from camera though, it is a good shot. I'll leave Ed to clone out the boats, he is good at it.
Perhaps a crop like this could be used.

But there again, maybe not!
Getting there, as John says, have you sourced any editing software yet, my/John's version. Regards. Ed.
Some of the boats surfaced again. Promising pic Wes. Ed.
Lovely scene and the foreground rocks help to give the image good depth. If it were mine, I would want to reduce the blue glare and selectively brighten and sharpen the image, but only gently. An alternative approach to the chopped boats is to add a bit to each side.

Clever, Philip, very clever.
It is not really all that difficult, after a bit of practice. First the image canvas size was increased to make a blank strip down each side. Then suitable content from elsewhere in the image was cloned into the strips. In PaintShop Pro, I used the Magic Fill tool for the basic cloning (I think that later versions of Photoshop have a similar feature called Context Sensitive Fill), followed by using the Clone Brush tool to paint over any obvious repetitions to give a more realistic finish. The fiddly bit was making the bow of the boat on the left hand side, for which I used a very small clone brush on a much magnified view of the image.

Cheers.

Philip. Had a look at the Magic Fill tool and it looks a useful piece of kit. Unfortunately, the Photoshop version arrived in CS5. I have CS4.
I will have to spend more time on Paintshop Pro, and learn how to use it. As I have said, I bought the tutorial book and today the programme downloaded Service Pack 1, so I have no real excuses.
Anybody using Photoshop, I use CS4E, this is the procedure.

Open - Image, Canvas Size, I used 1" Width, then Clone surround, ascertain Aligned is ticked at top.

I used the bow and engine encircled, to clone where needed. . Crop as wanted.

Tidy up as you wish, it is a small file though. Ed.

Tried copying Philip's technique, but using purely cloning.

It doesn't matter how you get there, John, as long as you get to where you want to be! Nice work. Smile

Cheers.

Thanks, Philip.
Great effort John, personally I would sharpen it a bit. Ed.
All I was doing was the cloning.
