Full Version: Bass Rock

Here is an image of the Bass Rock (off the Lothian coast) taken in Oct 2009. I have never been happy with this image, due to the blueness of the clouds, but don't know how to improve things without altering the colour balance of the island. I could use a mask but prefer not to. What do you think?

Nikon D80, 1/180 sec, f11, ISO 160, 202 mm lens equivalent.
The white balance was set to Auto.
I have no idea what it actually looks like, John, but one way to approach the colour adjustment would be to move towards desaturating the cyan and blue tones, as they are not a feature of the rock, as well as experimenting with brightness and contrast, e.g. -

Long time since I seen this John, boss had a flat that overlooked it, used to get it for a week each year. Was a prison at one time. Ed
Hi John,
Never seen the Bass myself, but would guess that it is a volcanic plug.
Anyway, this is my attempt. Have cropped the sky since it felt rather heavy to me once I had reduced the blue and it took on a darker hue.
