I have no idea what to do with this shot I got today...

I haven't done anything to it but I thought I's give you PS wizards a shot at it - if there's anything here worth working on...



(btw, the wide aspect ratio is from the camera - it has a HDTV 16:9 feature that I hadn't tried yet. I like the look of it but won't be using the feature again because it only produces an image 1920x1080 - roughly half the pixels the camera is capable of!)

Let's start easy...try Auto Contrast That sometimes does wonders on this kind of hazy shot.

Well, I played with it and to be honest, I prefer your original as it's cold, windy and harsh.
Here's mine, though I think I've ruined it.

Here's a quickie I came up with on my own.....
de-saturate and adjust brightness and contrast...

I like what you have done Cailean. Here is a quick attempt to develop further on your theme...

- Level change
- Curves
- Select lights and increase contrast - apply diffuse glow
- simplify with Buzz simplifier - 20%
- sharpen a little
- Curves again



The lights are a bit over the top - but you get the idea.

Hey I definitely like Irma's version the best... the colours are brighter but you still see the cold haze. I'd probably make the grass on the right a bit duller though, as it stands out a bit.

Hey what technique did you use, Irma?

First I removed the signs, and the window and the yellow spots in the wall.

- promote the background layer in raster layer.
- duplicated the layer image three times, with the second layer I worked with saturation, and change blend mode to multiply
- with the third layer I reduced the visivility to 62.
- copied this file and merged all the layers and applied Adjust>softness>soft focus> focus 60, 30 and Halo 15 20 15....

Just to remind you my program is PSP9, I hope the names are the same or similar in Photoshop.

I am in awe, Irma... very nice work! (I would've removed the sign too if I wasn't so lazy... )

@Toad: your version reminds me of a Brassaii - and I can't help but picture it with those awful LEDs that were so trendy a few years ago!!

Thanks for your kind comments... but I think the merit goes to the picture... it is really beautiful... It just needed to cheer up a bit the colors

Sorry I could not do any better than Irma. I just can add or substract anything else.

If I change colour here and there...it does not work The only change i would do is that i would remove the rubish bin, trash can, dumster.

I agree that Irma has outdone herself here. She bossted the colour and kept the idea that there was a snow storm happening. Good work.
