That is very difficult Bob.. :/ However I would go for a crop: sky or reflection, and just because of the rule of third.

Sorry Bob, probably I am not much of a help here. I really like it as it is :|

I really like it as it is too, Craig! It's an awesome reflection...

Here is my rendition. Smaller crop to add strength to the foreground, and fall colors to enhance the glow.

I like very much the crop you did here Jerry. And the colors really work well.

Thanks for the comments and opinions, this was the last in a 4 picture series.... filmed over a 15 mile drive.

They are very nice Bob. I also like the second one, with a little working in the color is just great. The last one is a beauty.

Craig:
Pretty nice stuff. With reflections of geometric shapes, my personal preference is to move towards the abstract and away from the naturalistic approach. I know this isn't everyone's tastes, but when you are dealing with forms that are in conflict with nature like this dam, a less "natural" approach seems saddly appropriate.
![[Image: 97_test.jpg]](http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/images/upload/97_test.jpg)
I went for a more dead center composition, faintly simplified the photo, saturated and then selected the reflected part of the photo and equalized the 2 parts using curves. This gives the 2 halves more equal solidity.
I don't think it is much better or different - but is an alternate approach.

I like the results Toad.
As for the dam in the middle of nature, I am sure that this was a beautiful valley before that thing was thrown across it.. It is pine flats dam, near fresno, California.

Here's a little softening of the reflections in the water...
