This is my neighbor's daughter. We had them for dinner last night, and I just snapped two shots over the table with the builtin flash. Of course, the picture came out a bit flat. I did some photoshopping with a tutorial I found
here. What do you think, is it ok like this, or is there anything else I should do, or should I just leave it alone?
Here is the original:

Goodness I don't like that tutorial! Maybe it is just the image they began with but she looks radiated by the end of it.
The biggest problem I see with the image is the lack of hair and background detail, even without a background you need to capture some more hair or she seems enveloped in the darkness. You could also try and give her skin a bit of warmth and lightening her eyes up.
Thanks, J! I will try and see what can be done...
So thats how they do those tough ups in the Cosmopolitian magazines
Good capture, I rekon you need to do something with the background, either dull the light a bit or maybe a bit of a blue so your subgect stands out a little better
That's what I came up with after a lengthy PS session. I think it's much better than my first try (thanks again, Jamie!), but I'm not completely happy with it. I'll post it in the PS Playground for others to have a go at it.

Here is my lame attempt. Didn't have a lot of time, so it was rather quick. Your thoughts G?

Actually, I am really unhappy with my attempt so disregard it. Its not looking like I want it to at the moment and I don't have time to add to it. haha.
There is a flicker of moisture or something in her eye in the left of the frame. I find that distracting. It looks like something is wrong with her.
