I've been thinking of running another competition, and it looks like we might have some sponsors, so just wondering if you have any ideas to make it fun?

I was thinking of a 4 round photo contest, based around a central theme. Each round will be a week long and points are awarded to the top three of each round. At the end of the 4 rounds, the person with most points will be awarded the grand prize?

Any thoughts or suggestions? Themes?
How will the photos be judged and by whom?
Good question.... I can think of three ways:

Whom:
1. By me
2. By a panel (3-4) of independant judges
3. By the general public i.e. voting

How - I guess on photographic / artistic merit... but that's always a hard one to define.

I'm open to suggestions...
I'm having some thoughts here...

I think I'd like it if we were voting... If we were, the entries should be in a gallery without user names, just the pictures, and they should be visible only when the voting begins. Only after the voting the creator of the pic should be visible.

I think it's somewhat unfair if the early entries are shown immediately, because they get a lot more views than the late ones. Also, I think if we were voting, we shouldn't know who made the picture, so as to inhibit sympathy votes. Smile
First to take a pic of a person in a cast? = $50
First to take a person of a mac user wanna be? = $100
First to take a pic of a red haired boy? = $150

Absolutely agree! Smile
Also, can we only allow new shots for entries? My stock of keepers is really very small... Smile
I have read the thread in full and I too agree with gurito, also striping of exif data (camer model etc) would be cool
Yes, I think the rules would be so that images have to be taken within the timeframe of the competition. i.e. no photos from your stockpile Smile
Hey thanks for all your ideas so far - I'm still keen to run an extended competition. With the current competition, the sponsors have stipulated some guidelines (i.e. has to start within a few days, has to end in one week) so I'm not able to implement most of the ideas here.

Hopefully if this one works out and they're happy, then we might have an opportunity to run the extended ones! Big Grin
