What do you think about this? Smile

Nice! I like the texture of the jeans. The buckles(?) make great subjects too. Well done!
Hi Irma.
Good eye you have. I like the image. I just think a different crop would be in order. The cuffs are a littlle distracting. I thought something like this might offer a different comp using the rivits.

It's a very good idea! Thank you! Smile

Nice avatar btw Big Grin
You're welcome and thanks. Smile
Very nice idea, Irma, and a good crop suggestion by Peto.
What if you flattened it a little?

Don.

Hello man Smile

You know, I really find it very hard to understand your eye. It seems so, well, kind of, well........... Sort of almost too arty.
Having said that though, I certainly have produced some wierd stuff at times too.

I'd really like to know what drives your process; how you view a finished picture; why you see as you do, and how you see others vision, compared to your own.

Phew!

That was a load of psuedo, psycho, semi-mad blather, wasnt it??? :o
A lot of it is vanity Rufus.
Well Don, I think everyone gets a buzz out of a well recieved photo. I'm not sure that you've answered the question, (not that you have to), though! :o

Thinking about it, I was also asking myself, "why do I do what I do?"

All I can say, is that, in the immortal words of father Jack Hackett...................................
................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. "THAT WOULD BE AN ECUMENICAL MATTER!"

I made a mistake. You win some you lose some.

Don,

I think we are at cross porpoises here........ What mistake?? :/

I'm not referring to anything in particular............................ :/

You are puzzling me. :/
Don: I don't think Rufus is suggesting that he doesn't like your interpretations, but that your vision isn't what naturally occurs to him and he's trying to understand why - what you see that he doesn't.. {correct me if I'm off-base, Ruf}

Even if someone doesn't like someone else's art (it's all art) that doesn't make it a mistake! The impressionists (Monet, et al) were laughed out of the art world and never got any recognition until shortly before or after they died! We would never say now that their work was a mistake.

Speaking of the impressionists -- it just dawned on me that that is what your work reminds me of, Don. The idea of impressionists when they began was that their paintings offered an interpretation, or impression, of the subject whithout the distraction of details. In an impressionist work you can appreciate the larger forms without being distracted by a blade of grass here, or the texture of the tree bark there. It is conversely similar to the appeal of black&white photography which allows you to appreciate detail of form without the distraction of colour. Can you tell my wife was an Fine Arts major?
Thanks Cailean for your post. It has been to me very enlightening... I have refreshed with some readings, what once I studied about impressionism, and you are right about Don's work.

Still few weeks ago, when my husband showed me some post-processing pictures with posterize effect, I used to say "I don't like it". One day I thought, it isn't that you don't like, what happen is that you don't understand it Irma... And then I tried to see more pictures and read about posterize effect in pictures to understand what he wanted to achieve.

In this case, I didn't want to post any comment before, because I was unable to understand Don's post-processing. Now, I think I can understand it much better... and why he said "flattened".... it was sort of "simplify"... so to say.

Thanks Rufus for your comments.. Smile Thanks Don for your try with this picture. Smile
Cailean. Yep, Smile you are correct!

Hello Irma Big Grin
Thanks guys.

I like the patterns in things rather than representing the things themselves. I often try to abstract patterns to make them more visible.

Maybe you should change your name to Donet. Tongue
That has a nice ring to it. I'm definitely an impressionistic sort.
