I like the colors of the first one better, they are more vivid. But I think you could have moved in closer, much closer. The rotten apple is so much more interesting than it's surroundings. Just my 0.02.

I like #1, and I also agree with G about getting closer to the apple. The grass and leaves are somewhat distracting, and while they do set the scene, you don't need so much of it. More apple, less soggy grass.

I don't know I see some green. A glimmer of hope. In a month that brown will be over run with green. Hope will always fight of death.

But death always gets more press.
It's webs of fungus revealed when the snow melts. True suburbanites (not me) get out their rakes and pull out all the dead stuff every Spring. I'm much too lazy. The grass grows in anyway. I'm sorry about the title. It did grab some attention though didn't it.
