Here is the other part of my end of year project. I know I'll have to make the time to get the tripod out for this trip, Jays says that it can stay set up in the back seat...and we might even be packing a tent so that we can get a sun rise photo or two as well.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
BTW, none of these pics have been PSed, all input welcome.
What works in these images...and if it is nothing...PLEASE tell me!!!

Hi Mez:
I quite likethe composition of #1 and #3.
If you decide to PS the photos I would increase contrast and set a cleaner black point (via levels). #3 has a solid black point and looks much crisper than the others as a result.
On my monitor, I am seeing quite a magenta color cast on some of these photos - makes me think that these are scanned from film... If you decide to work on these shots, I would try to minimize the color cast.
I really like seeing these photos of Australia - it is a fascinating place that I plan to visit one day.
I agree with Toad. There is a definite magenta cast. I took the first shot, set the black and white points and then added a blue 80 filter. Quick lab sharpen (85, 1, 4)

Here is another. A bit overdone, but I was in a hurry. Sorry. Again, set balck and white points, adjusted color, adjusted horizon, sharpened and reduced for web. Maybe a bit much, bit like I say, I was in a hurry.

As far as composition goes, I really like #1. As far as the others, I am not as interested in having a second and third look. If that makes sense. That doesn't mean they are bad shots, just not second lookers for me.
Hi Mez,
I think it looks better when the horizon is straight, and the rule of thirds is used to compose. Have you got a grid on the LCD that you can use as a guide?
You're on the right track but the shots lack something to draw my eye in and make me say wow. I'm sure you have a feel for the pictures as the landscape is awesome and being in that enviroment is fantasic, but it has not shown through in the pictures.
Keep shooting.

Aw, brings back memories back 30 years ago when I first drive across.
