I agree with NN, it is not boring. I like the tree, it is really beautiful. I would work a little more with the sky.

Unfortunately I'm viewing from the laptop so I wont comment on exposure colour and such. I like the image. I like the way the road dissapears behind the tree. The frame on the other hand? Hmmm, don't know if this is the right one for the photo. :/

Sorry this isn't really a comment about the picture itself, but..
the frame is interesting!

I'm really glad there are no streetlights, telephone wires or cars. This is a lovely peaceful scene.

As for me, a black frame would be perfect.

I relly don't like frames online. Hanging on a wall is one thing - also a subtle mat around an online photo to isolate it from the site background is OK - but false frames don't do anything for me.
As for the photo: nice composition and mood. I can suggest a couple of modest improvements.
The levels are off a little bit. A crisper black point and a slight boost in the midtones would make the photo POP more.
I also would like to see the sky a little less grey - a slight gradient would be nice.
Nice work, J.

I wouldn't say boring, but two things bother me about the picture.
1. The Frame.... black or white only please! I find frames with color tend to detract from teh subject and draw the eye away from what is intended to be seen.
2. The dark tree dead center, it keeps stopping my eye when I am foillowing the curve of the road.

I agree with Bob - great composition, you've captured the rule of thirds perfectly, but something about that tree... it's sort of competing as the "subject" of the photo, if you get what I mean? It's not a bad photo though, it's got a lot "technically" correct with it - the thirds, a line drawing you into the centre, and it's "framed" slightly by the two trees on the side.

Thanks everyone for their generous comments!
I was trying to find a plain black frame but settled for the wood.
Come to think of it, yes, it does look a bit tacky.
Toad, yes, maybe I should try Adam's trick of cutting and pasting some sky in.
Hm... yeah the tree... maybe I should chop it down.

If the tree was something cool like a little cottage or just something with a high contrast to the background, it'd be top notch
So yeah, chop down the tree, but build a shack with it and paint it red....

Now I'm back to the pc I can see a better picture. I agree with the comments on the sky. I suppose that is something to live with having an overcast day. I like the tree in the middle. You can just see a little of the road dissapearing behind it. As for frames go, maybe just a drop shadow on a white back ground.
