This image is a manupulated [merged]series of aboriginal tribal posts situated on southbank melbourne; shot with a canon a80 megapixel camera. i felt the strenghts through the colours[ enhanced] and shapes and textures involved represented the diversity of the aboriginal tribes; yet whilst apart the interconnectiveness is apparent.
I would welcome any comments ; positive or negative.
thanks

Frank:

I like it - bold patterns and colors. Great merging of images that maintains a consistency of theme and approach.

Improvements? I would like to see some subtler blending in a couple of spots - particulalry the way the red form in the lower right corner cuts off abruptly into blue. To me that makes that particular piece of the image look a little disjoint. If it blended more gradually, or even went behind the brown pole, it would unify the image more.

Great work! I'd like to see more. I really like this kind of meaningful abstract.

Hi Frank,

Interesting technique! The symbolism is not lost on me - well done! Big Grin

Welcome to shuttertalk, by the way! Big Grin
Hi frank. Welcome to the forum. Could you upload an image 600x400 at least so my tired eyes can see it better? Smile
Hi Frank

Welcome to the forum!

You chose a very interesting topic for your work. And I think this technique is very useful to demonstrate what you want "diversity of the aboriginal tribes". As they have somehow a common ground, they are "aboriginal tribes", you could use as a background to cover all your picture the texture of a leaf of that region, a picture of a map showing where the live. It would give to your picture harmony and would set this diversity in context. I found in your picture some empty spaces that you could use to show more information, so you don't give the opportunity to the viewer to get distracted.

What programm are you working with?

I tried this technique few years ago, and now that you posted your picture I got interested again. I might try to make something again. Smile

Hi Frank,

Welcome to Shuttertalk!

Great concept for your image, and the subjects and angles you chose for the photos you used were really good too.

But I agree with Toad that the blending could have been more effective. I also think the colours (mainly the cyan) are perhaps a bit too over-bearing and if made more subtle then the viewer would be drawn more towards the detail in the posts. I realise this might go against you deliberately trying to make the red/cyan contrast as strong as possible, but I think a small sacrifice in colour could bring a big gain in detail.

I think you are really onto something with the concept and photos, but perhaps spending a bit more time in Photoshop would be useful to try a heap of other combinations of layout, blending, colours and effects.

Oh, and if you do come up with a different version, be sure to show us please. I'd love to see it. Smile
