Nice to meet you Arrusa, many of my camera club have a similar equipment history to you
I was slighlty intimidated when entering my forst images at teh start of the year when one club member commented she had shot a shot very similar to one of mine in Yosemite park... in 1942!!

Well, time for a bit about Zig:
Raised in Nottingamshire; was a teacher of English for 15 years or so; violently antiChristian and on all sorts of dangerous convergences until meeting a Jesus I swore I'd never believe in some 15 years ago. 12 years recovered from full-on alcoholism.
The 2 books that impacted me most were Le Grand Meaulnes by H. Alain-Fournier and Joyce's Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. I read almost exclusively historical non-fiction nowadays.
Photography not my main thing; if I were to say I'm a reasonably creative photographer I'd admit that if I were as good as i could get, I'd never have that "spark" of genius.
I've written much creative fiction, poems mostly, over the years, and loathe the doggerel, "performance" tripe that passes for poetry nowadays.
Guitar-playing is my main thing, part of my calling, and in worldly terms my first love. I have to say God has gifted me especially and uniquely in this area.
I assist with "leading" worship, playing guitar and bass at local churches, and gig here and there, though God has had to remind me several times He gave me this gift to build His body and not my flesh. "Fortunately", I'm often beset by poor self-esteem, which, coupled with a sensitivity that is often masked by an appearance of confident, edgy humour, combine to help me be dependent on God for Grace. In real terms, my "dependency issues" have been set aside and sanctified by a dependency on God.
Non-Christians would call this, quite appropriately for them, switching dependency from alcohol to religion, I suppose.
I record my own music, mostly because this is one area I'm quite driven to control...also in that there are not many local musicians who are good enough. My first 2 CDs were instrumentals, my 3rd a worship collection called "Recovered", which even I am very pleased with.
My latest tracks for a CD which will probably emerge in winter, are a version of Stormy Monday Blues(which Rufus and Noodle have heard) and my own version of Santana's Europa, which I've renamed From Heaven To Earth.
I record my stuff on pc with Sonar, mixing and mastering myself with some quite high-end software.
Church-wise, I feel that God wants me to move more in the teaching/prophetic, but I sense churches are having a chance fora bit of a denial-busting clearout as is necessary for the Bride to recognise Her unchaining.
I'm not married, but would sure like to be, having submitted the matter several times to God for His personal attention.
This is a reasonable snapshot of the man behind Zig.

Wow cool, Zig! Thanks for the info... it's great to find out more about you.
I'd love to hear your recordings... any chance we could sample a track or three?

Why, yes, s-t: I can easily get a snippet or 2 and convert to mp3....would I be able to upload here, or post a link to some virtual holding-place somewhere else?

Yup, let me work something out... I'll PM you with some details later today.

Hi all,
My name's Andy from the UK. I'm 35, divorced with just the one dog
It's taken be a little while to post my first due to technical issues but I think I'm sorted now. I've only been taking photographs for the last 6 months or so with my D70, I've just got myself a SB800 speed light to play around with though I'm still trying to figure how it works. I'm currently saving my pennies for a Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 as a slightly faster replacement for the kit lens.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to sharing photos and advice with you all.

Hello everyone.
I'm a singaporean that had moved recently to Perth. Been trying to look around for a forumn/club/group to make more friends sharing the same interests in photography.
Took up photography not too long ago. Really loved the digital age as i felt that it allows me to learn this art faster and easier.

Hi,
My name is Joe and I have been into photography since 1966 when I purchased my first SLR, a Canon Pellix QL when I was in Alaska serving in the US Army. I switched to Pentax in 1974 when I purchased my first Pentax 6x7 MF camera to freelance as a drag racing photographer and did that until the late 80's. I love to travel and have traveled all over the US and Canada . I also traveled to Hong Kong in 1991and Australia in 2001. I just purchased a Pentax *ist DS2 and since I received it on Friday it has been overcast with rain everyday after having almost no rain in the last two months.
My wife wants to go on vacation to Australia again in the next few years so this time I will have a D SLR instead of a point and shoot digital Epson 3100z that I used the last time in 2001. We have five and two year old grandsons that we take many photos of and the D SLR will make it more possible to catch a great shot without the shutter lag of a point & shoot digital.
This looks like a great forum and look forward to posting photos etc.
