DSLR Photography Forum

This photo is an exposure bracketed blend of three images (+1, 0, -1 ev) done using layer masks in PSE3. Any comments and critiques would be appreciated. Please be honest, and brutal if necessary.

I don't know what to say other than I think you did a great job. I really like how you have "life" on one boat and "guard" on the other. The tones and everything are most relaxing. Well done Mathew.

Well then, you asked for honesty and brutality. This picture is effing beauitful.

It reminds me of an early childhood experience when I was in Italy with my parents and went to the beach for a swim around 5am, the first day after our arrival, when mum and dad were still asleep. This was the day I learned swimming. The sea was as smooth as silk. I swam out until everything on the beach was far far away. I could feel the vast expanse of water around me, and how it is full of life, a benevolent power that supported me. I was seven then. I had never swum more than three meters before.

I like this type of shot, landscape with a subject in the foreground keeps it interesting and the subtle colours work well.

Nice shot, Matt - very serene and picturesque. Love the boats too - makes for great foreground interest. In fact, there's a lot of elements in the frame that are interesting..
