Love the DOF and composition, its unusual but it definately works for me Smile
Very pretty. I love daisies.
Thanks a lot for your comments Schellamo and Don.

I was really unsure about the background and the color. I don't know why it turned up a little bit warm...

Nice to know that you both like it Smile
Nice treatment Irma... I like the idea, and the DOF works well to blur out the cluttered background.

Honestly though I think that the "subject" isn't strong enough - either (1) need to have more flowers in focus, or (2) the in focus flowers shouldn't have more flowers behind it so they stand out more.

Just my 2c Big Grin
Irma, great shot and I like the bug..... Wink I do however agree with ST that there is too much dark space..........maybe a tighter crop???

hope you don't mind........here is my go

also a bit of dodge to the flowers in the dark right.......rough

Cheers
edit
sorry after looking at the two together maybe mine is too tight..........and the dodge vey rough
Thanks ST for your comment. I would like to try what you suggested. As I have those flowers in the garden, I will try this picture again. Smile

Russ.. Thanks a lot for your try .. I like the crop you did, because it concentrates the picture without losing much of the background. I am happy you like the bug.... It was a dilemma at home. If I should leave it or clone it out... Smile
I was also going to suggest a crop, almost exactly like Russt's.

I don't like the bug because he's too small to be considered subject matter and therefore serves as a distraction (in my opinion, of course).

I like the sense of depth and softness, though the lighting is perhaps a bit flat.
I thought that maybe the formost daisies should be more in focus. There is just one. Also everything could use a brighter look. As Mitch said the lighting seems a bit flat. Russ's crop works much better too.
Thanks Colin and Mitch for your comment. I went to the garden to check my daisies and they are not many now... I want to retake the picture and work a bit more in my composition.. I will do it again in few days.... I will also try to take the picture at different times of the day to get different light conditions... I really want to learn to use the 50 mm lens and not only with flowers... This was my first try so I will keep trying Smile

Mitch, G told me exactly the same as you said about the bug.... Sad
I never even saw the bug. Big Grin My neighbor has a ton of huge daisies. I'll get a shot for you Irma. Smile
That would be great, Colin. Thank you Smile
I just realized I had already taken photos of the daisies. More flowers here. Mostley all my earlier stuff with the A40.

Thanks Colin Smile They are beautiful.... This is a really a huge bush of daisies... and the flowers are much bigger than mine.... Canadian daisies are gorgeous Smile...

Hey you have a lovely collection of flowers... I didn't know you had flower pictures... they are very nice... and so colorful.... The sunflowers are beautiful the same as the lily pictures all of them are great! Smile Did you take all this pictures from your garden?
Thanks Irma. Unfortunately most are from another neighbors garden. Some are from my wifes planters though. Smile
