Ok folks, this is it! Thus begins the inaugural Shuttertalk Photo Scavenger Hunt (SPSH)!
The challenge:
A challenge, call it what you will, to see how many points you can accumulate within the 2 week duration of the scavenger hunt. Each photo you take which fits one of the items of the list, and fulfills the requirements will earn you the allocated points for that photo. An example would be "take a photo of yourself next to a policeman". So if you take a photo of a policeman, and you're in it the photo next to him, you get the points!
Each item can only be counted once per person - so taking lots of shots of policemen won't work. The person with most points at the end wins!
How to enter:
Basically, take a photo which fits the given description, and post it as a reply to this thread! The photo must be yours, so you can't steal someone's photo off the internet. Photos also need to be taken during the duration of the scavenger hunt, so it can't be one from your archives... Points will be attributed to the forum username you post as, so you'll need a valid forum user. You can post photos throughout the week - don't need to wait till the end. Oh and I should mention - no photoshopping! Do put a description of what shot you're trying to achieve, if it's not obvious
What you could win:
Eternal fame in the annals of Shuttertalk's history. A warm fuzzy feeling in your heart. An old, crumpled up paper napkin, still unused.

There will probably be a heap of submissions, so if I could ask people to please resize their images to < 500 px on the longest side, it will allow for easier viewing and also put less of a load on the server bandwidth. Thank in advance!
Please do things legally, where appropriate, ask for people's permission. Oh, and have fun!
Final submissions must be in by Wednesday, 1st September 2004, 00:01 Australian Eastern Standard Time.
These items will earn you 100 points each:
- yourself next to a fire hydrant
- yourself leap frogging over someone else
- yourself posing next to a statue
- yourself hanging upside down
- yourself in handcuffs
- an object beginning with the letter "Q"
- yourself posing next to a for sale sign
- yourself hugging a street sign in a public area
- yourself with a dog doing a trick
- yourself on skates/rollerblades/skateboard
These items will earn you 250 points each:
- a traffic accident (hey don't cause any ok?)
- yourself with a someone at fast food restaurant in uniform
- yourself coming out of a toilet of the opposite sex
- a letterbox with the numbers "123"
- yourself + 2 other people with a yellow flower behind the right ear
- yourself being pushed in a shopping trolley
These items will earn you 500 points each:
- a clown on stilts
- yourself next to a policeman
- yourself rubbing a bald stranger's head
- yourself and 9 others crammed into a car
- a car parked at a no parking sign (not your own, please)
- yourself holding a nintendo 64
These items will earn you 1000 points each;
- the letters "shuttertalk" spelt out with people (you know, do the YMCA thing)
- a pastor / vicar / priest etc. holding a bottle of beer
- yourself next to an elvis impersonator (or someone who looks like elvis)
- yourself with a protester holding a placard
- yourself next to a pink cadillac

p.s. I'll be joining in this Scavenger Hunt too... if I win, I'll be giving the voucher to someone of my choice! Don't let me win guys and gals...
