What do yall think of this one? I am a bit unsure about it...don't know it it's perhaps too dark over on the left side. I thought about cropping out that part, but I dont' want to lose the tones of the sand on the right...
How does this look? Too cropped or no?

I prefer the second one for composition, as you have moved the sun from dead center, I'd also like to see you lose some of the sky so that you horizon isn't centered too. On your second one you lose the cloud highest in teh frame on the right so that one could be cropped down to just above the 2 little clouds on the left.

Great color and tone, I think the darkness works for this one.
Like this?

Exactly like that Smile

Do you use RAW? If so, there are a few tricks that can be done to lightenup the left side of your original while still retaining the tones of the sand. Personally I like the composition of your original the best, and some of the saturation from that exposure - unfortunately some areas are just too dark. If you do use RAW - I can point you in a couple of directions.

I do use RAW for the most part. I tried using the fill flash option in Photoshop to lighten up those rocks on the left, but the edges looked too unnatural to me afterward.
Very nice image Rik. I think you are headed in the right direction so I'll keep returning to see your results after more raw fiddling. Smile
Spectacular shot Rick... love the tone of the image. I like the exposure - usually sunsets are golden and blown out, but you've seemed to add a different twist...
