I like what you are going for here a lot, I am wondering to myself how this would look without the top 2 wires - its hard to visualize, but I am not sure they are adding to the shot.
Great visualization.

I like the color and the positioning of the bird, and without reading Toads comments was already wanting the top 2 wires out of there.
Still, great color and composition.

Thanks guys!
I actually left the wires in on purpose, I wanted it to look like musical notes. Well I did give a hint to this in the title.
Anyway, this is not a melody with just one or two notes. I'm still waiting for a set of five powerlines, with a flock of birds on them where the birds are forming the notation of some well known piece of music.

Heheh... I like the idea...
Hey maybe add a different shade of colour/darkness to each section?

I really like this one. It's too bad there weren't 5 wires.

Before I read through the comments, I thought it sort of looks like a beautiful peice of music notation. Maybe you can add an extra two lines?

yup.. when Toad and Colin suggested removing the top two wires I instantly thought "noo.. it looks like music".
I actually don't think it needs another two lines, as the top and bottom borders of the image perform that function. I hope you don't mind, but I added a border to emphasize the effect.
It's not too corny at all G.. and that moon capture is just wonderful. Beautiful and soft, yet still with detail and what looks like a very slight veil of clouds.
There's very little to be critical of here.. except maybe the top wire is spaced a little too far from the others... but that isn't your fault.
I also wonder what it would have been like with a tighter aperture to try to get that moon a little sharper. I like it the way it is, but I just wonder what it might be like more in focus.

You know what, as soon as i saw this, I was reminded of a photo I always wanted to take, exactly as you said too: birds on a wire as musical notes.
That's why my comment was going to be: put in 5 telephone wires, repeat(or c+P) another few birds, and make them ACTUALLY the first few notes of Moonlight Serenade.
BAH! I shouldn't be telling you this: I'm blowing away my own copyright before I've taken a shot!

Nooooo!! Don't do it!
I love the lone bird, it makes me think of one perfect, held note, wavering in front of the moon. I do think the black border needs to be a little bit thicker/bolder than in Kombi's version so you can see it better.
Thats my 2 cents.

Adrian's version has made a good thing, just that much better. Nice capture G.

Thanks for your comments, and your advice. I appreciate your input very much.
I'm not going to manipulate the picture any further, although Adrian's version is intriguing indeed. The picture is already a composite of two, shot at the same time at the same location, but I was between the moon and the bird and couldn't get to the other side of the bird to take the real shot. The picture I posted could have been a real shot if taken from the right position. For this impression I even blurred the moon just a little to give some DOF, which it would have had in this light even if I had used a tripod.
Now, I will patiently wait until I find my flock of birds on five lines.
Edit: BTW, I don't think there have to be exactly five lines to give the impression of musical notes. Mickey Mouse's hands have only four (or was it three) fingers, yet everybody recognizes them as hands.

Excellent photo G. I like both versions. Very good.
