This one's been sitting on my hard drive for over a year and I never know exactly what to do with it. I love the light, but I don't know if I like the composition. Any thoughts?
I see exactly what you mean about the light and compositin difficulties. If you don't mind the suggestion...

Very nice photo. The original has wonderful contrast and saturation.

I think the problem with the original Rik is that you have two things that draw your eye, the tallest rock formation and the large group of darker boats. Both of these are centered which is what I think is the problem.

I like toads fix, another option would be to crop the darker boats into a power of thirds.

I like this image, Rick. As Craig (Bob) pointed out, I think the definite stand-out subjects are the mountain peak and the pier... hence this crop:

Tried it to get them as close to thirds as possible...
I thought Toads crop works well. The first thing I did was scroll the page to see how it would look with the bottom portion missing.
