#1 is a keeper
#2 is too wide IMO.
#3 is a good crop but too soft focus.
#4 I am not sure about - I like the negative space in the middle, but I don't think it adds to the whole - if you came back from the negative space to something photographically "wow" in the bottom half - it would work better. It would tie the image together. The moth is still too soft.
Nice work, over all. I like how you are pushing the envelope. #4 is artistically the best - it needs a bit of work, but I love to see people working with contraversial photo elements like negative space - that is where we blaze new trails.

I love the first one as it is, Schell
I like as well the composition on your butterfly pictures...

I can't suggest a single crop to improve the composition. The 4th one doesn't work for me, but I can't suggest an improvement!

Thanks for your comments Toad. You've made me think about this photo some more.
#4 never really worked for me compositionally, but at the same time there was something about it I liked. At the time unfortunately I couldn't get close enough to get a better crop/focus. But I'm not dissapointed. At the moment I'm just happy as long as I'm learning something from the photos I take- even the real bad ones!
Thank you Irma and Bob, I appreciate your input also.
