I was walking through Fremantle on a weekend with the usual procession of cars cruising along South Tce trying to impress the coffee-drinkers... and this Gemini came along and grabbed everyone's attention (for all the wrong reasons). I think the driver was pretty pleased with himself at how everyone was looking his way, but I think EVERYONE was thinking "why would anybody waste their time and money on a bloody Gemini?!?!?" Its no suprise that he has no passengers - I don't blame anyone for not wanting to be seen in that thing!
As far as the photo goes, I saw the scene unfolding in front of me (of the people looking towards the car) and it was more of a reflex action than a thought-out photo. The car was doing probably 25-30km/h, so I really only had a second to get the shot. It was even taken from the hip - but I don't think I could've composed it any better if I'd have held it to my eye.
I have taken a few distracting elements out of the image (there were a couple of other people in shot who had their backs turned and were engrossed in conversation), and also desaturated the background a fair bit to make the car jump out more.. not 100% sure if this "works" or not.
I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this shot, and ways it might be made to work a bit better than it does. I think it has potential, but its not my normal type of photography so I feel like I'm a bit "all thumbs".
