I was trying out some ideas... And I can't decide if this image works or not.
the only PS was the mono conversion and a touch of exposure tweaking.

Any thoughts?
Hey I like the symmetry and the (word of the day) juxtaposition...
I have seen always those towers so impressive.. This has been my topic as well several times... I have taken some pictures and I haven't posted any of them...To me, it is as if they lose their magic, when you see them in a picture...

In your picture I just keep looking at the towers and my eye is fixed there because there is nothing else that grabs my attention. Perhaps in a cloudy day and giving a little more detail to the foreground?
Thanks Jules - that was certainly the theme I was chasing after with this shot... and while I was thinking "relationship", I like "juxtaposition" much better as a word of the day! Wink

But I think you're right Irma. There's definately something missing here.
I was hoping the simplicity of the image might make it work, but I don't think it does. The sky is too drab and boring, and you're right that there is not enough detail (or light) in the foreground, yet it isn't a silhoette either. It can't seem to make up its mind what kind of photo it is. Wink

And I know what you mean about the towers losing their sense of scale in photos. In this shot, instead of making the little plants look big it makes the towers look tiny.

But its good to hear these things... Its just as important to find out what doesn't work as what does. Thanks for the crit.
I like the photography, the texture of the photo--it looks like dawn. I think the idea is a little too simplistic. Nothing grabs me.
You're right Don. There's a big difference between "simple" (in a good way) and "simplistic" (in a bland boring way)... and I can agree with you that this photo is more of the latter than the former.
Perhaps it needed another layer of meaning... Something more subtle.. The main theme is obvious enough to grab your attention and make you look, but there needs to be more there to reward you for looking deeper and thinking about it. And... well.. the way it is, once you "get" the main idea in the photo which is plainly obvious, there isn't much else there.

It is perhaps more like an "exercise" than a finished photo... and.. well.. there's nothing wrong with that I guess. Its all good practice.

And your comments have given me some great food for thought.
Thanks!
