Os...
Couple of things with this shot. All positive critques though.
1. Your horizon is way out of whack. See how it tilts to the right. I provided a sample of a more level horizon.
2. There isn't really a focal point for this shot. Or none apparent anyways. Is it the lady you are interested in? If so, a larger aperature would have blurred the background more.
3. The picture is cery cluttered with activity and that takes away from whatever focal point you wanted. I count 4 separate groups.
4. The time of day this photo doesn't add a warm element you are looking for.
Does this help?
I added a photo and saturated the colors a bit, adjusted the black and white points and levelled the horizon. However some of these may be lost in the degradation of the photo after I saved it as a 100 kb file.

This is another option.
Thoughts?

Yes, I definately like your second edit, Jerry. Much more impact and compositionally pleasing

Personally I like it this way.
I also find the people in the seashore a distracting, as it was already mentioned by Jerry.. but not the people in the beach. You have a natural line leading to something with the dark track in the sand, so leaving those people there is something to go for when you follow that track... The girl closes the triangle closes the triangle in your composition.

Jerry, hope you don't mind I took your first try to show my idea...

Hey I think the image has great potiential... as Irma pointed out, the tracks in the sand leads the eye further into the frame, which is a good thing.
Irma and Jerry, I like both your versions...
In the first one, you see a sense of loneliness (espeically with the woman having her head down).
In the 2nd one, maybe she's walking back to her family...?

I like IRma's version best so far, not deserted by not too cluttered either.

Thanks everyone for the great comments, I think it's really gonna help me when taking photos from now on.

I can't wait for summer to begin. There is so much to photograph in summer.
I really like your shot, maybe you could take another shot in the same place and try different compositions next time?
