Hey they caught the sunlight pretty well....
Was the car/trailer in the background intentional? If not, they might detract from the subject (falling leaves) just a tad...

No it wasn't intentional, and I don't like it either. But it's the only shot I got where the leaves are halfway sharp.
The whole thing is really tough. Have you ever tried to focus on falling leaves? It's not possible, at least with my camera and lens. So you set the focus to where you expect them to come down. Only they will come down somewhere else. Once you set the camera to focus this somewhere else, the wind ceases to blow and they don't fall down at all. After several minutes of waiting you take the camera down, and whoosh, there they are but again in some other distance.
This is something for extremly patient people with a lot of time on their hands.

The best shot that I ever got of falling leaves was on a still day with a very light breeze. I shot straight up at some colorful trees so that the leaves falling towards me had perspective - close ones were quite large and further ones smaller. The shot was so-so - and it wasn't immediately obvious what I was capturing. It is a really dificult subject to capture. BTW: Like you, I used manual focus and a large DOF.
When I first saw this one, I thought it was a shot through a dirty window (Don does these sometimes). The light on the leaves is good, but until you told me, I wasn't clear on what I was seing.
Has anybody here ever succesffully captured falling leaves? I would love to see it if you have.
