Thanks Christian. I don't do the frame for all pictures. In this case, it works for me.
On a separate note though, lots of people viewing stuff these days but not many commenting or critiquing. Am not sure why.

I like very much the conversion... I think you have very good contrast in your picture...
The detail that takes more my attention to me is the jacket under her cheek than her eyes...
I think a tighter crop would work , down to get rid of the buttomhole and the sleeve, both sides to remove the folds of the blankets... Also dodging the circles and the pocket would help to desaturate distractors in the background... In this way you focus more in her eyes, because then they would be placed in the middle of the picture but slightly to the left... and the jacket under here cheek is not that apparent...

Nice catchlights and very sharp. I find the blankets very distracting with their mish-mash of patterns.

I have a hard time critiquing pictures of flowers and children - because I'm personally not very good at taking them, and so I don'y feel that I have much to add to the discussions. Also, when you critique photos of babies, it is hard to separate feelings of affection for the baby from purely technical and artistic issues. That's my excuse anyway.
I'll give it a bash this time though.
I like the B&W conversion, the exposure, cropping, and capture of the pose. I also like the background.
What disturbs me a bit is the pointy jacket corner by her lip. It looks uncomfortable, and pulls my eye from the intended focal point - her eyes. It would be a pretty delicate bit of PhotoShopping to reduce the point - but might be worth trying. Even a very subtle reduction in the pointed fabric would reduce the effect.
Just my $.02 - and I'm no expert at portraits.

I'd rather you had focused on the child's face only to get the full emotion. The pillow is too dominating for me, but it's just a matter of taste.
