Can you tell what it is yet?
Rufus says it's the arm of a garden bench (he just asked e to post this as he's not at his computer).
Damn - you people are sharp.
Wow, good guess! I thought it was some kind of wierd plant. What's the white stuff?
snow I reckon
The frost makes it look like velvet. I need to ask, is this meant for critique or is it a "guess what it is" post?

Yes it was meant for a "General" post - I ovbiously got too excited.

We had a really heavy frost the other day - the only problem was I had 5 minutes before I had to set off for work.

I managed to get around 10 shots of frosty coated things.

When I saw the shot in the viewer I thought it looked like and Aloe Vera plant.
Thanks for clarifying that. Now I can stop thinking about it and just look at it. Big Grin

I like the photo, and could figure out what it is without too much difficulty. It's the visible slats of the bench that give it away.

The colours and the frost are great. I'm a little bothered by how close the swoop of the line comes to the left edge of the photograph; with the nick in the paint and the rust there, it's too strong a stopping place for my eyes. If there was more room I think the effect would be minimized.

(My solution would be to go the other way, and crop it smaller to just clip the rust patch. You see where it's indented and the black of the background intrudes into the smooth line? I'd move the crop point to just inside that, so that the rust is still there but the line could be imagined smoothly outside of the picture area.)
