Irma, beautiful, soft tones and nice colour! The focus is very nice.
Hey, great pic, Russ... you've used the lattice frame very well and it definitely fits the theme. Cool!

Great shots so far everyone. This is an interesting challenge.
But I've got some exciting news! I've discovered a lens that has X-RAY VISION!!!!!! :o:o:o
This is with the X-Ray vision turned off:
![[Image: IMG_2625.JPG]](http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/images/upload/IMG_2625.JPG)
And this is with it turned on:
![[Image: IMG_2624.JPG]](http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/images/upload/IMG_2624.JPG)
Oh and I thought I'd include this last photo below for a bit of fun. A mate jumped into the background of this scene just as I was taking the shot and pulled a face. The composition and focus was all unintentional (I thought I was just shooting the mate in the foreground), but it was funny at the time

hi guys.... new here. here's a photo of a leaf that was hanging from a cobweb in my garden. the wind was blowing it about, so it was pretty hard to capture and get into focus, but i think the result is quite nice...

Kombi - wow, is that taken with an X-ray filter? Do they make them in 67mm size?
Love your work man, and the pic of your friends is a winner as well.
R90S - welcome! Good to have you here, and thanks for the awesome first post! It really fits the assignment, and if you hadn't mentioned that it was stuck on a cobweb, I would have thought that you had captured it in midflight! Now that would have been totally cool... Nevertheless, it's a great photo anyway! p.s. love your flickr photoblog... your comments are so witty!

Kombi your pictures are great!!! The color is great in the last one... Your friend in the background added a lot to the story I think... I like it a lot
R90S Welcome!
Great picture and excellent idea!! I also would have thought that you caught it in flight...
Nice to see a flickr member here

R90S, welcome to shuttertalk. Cool image. It looks suspended in mid air.

Russ, you know I'm going to love that shot.
Irma, your flower photo is very nice. I just wish the focus had more attention to something more like the stamen maybe?
Adrian, good dof examples.

I didn't have time to comment on a few that stuck in my mind when I posted before.. but..
R90 S.. Welcome! A very interesting shot you have there that leaves a lot of questions for the viewer to ponder... what is the leaf doing? how did it get there? what are those people doing in the background? etc... great job.
Matt... I think my favourite in this thread so far is that night shot of yours. Lovely atmosphere, and the motion blur/camera shake only adds to the feeling of vibrant city life. But I also really like the 2nd of your broken glass shots that you started the thread with.
Russt.. I'm not sure if I "got" the first of your posts. Are you joking about how you'd like to go on a holiday but have to pay the bills instead? I'm a sucker for cats too, so I also like your 2nd shot!
Peto, I do like that painterly effect you used. I'm not often a big fan of such effects, but you chose a great image to use it on... Are you trying to put Don out of a job?!???

And Irma, I really like your latest pic (reply #28). The petal detail and bokeh are lovely, but its the colours that really make that shot what it is.

continuous auto-focus can be good...

Matt your last ones are great!
Your comment in the last one is funny
You are right I didn't think about continuous auto-focus...
Petographer... You are right... The thing is the stamens of those flowers are not so interesting I think... and they are deep in the flower... I thought it would be more to show a macro... I will go today to the supermarket and try to get different flowers...

Hey Matthew, the seagull photos are awesome! So much clarity and definition - you can actually see the "expression" on the face...

My humble submissions to this assignment...
Mm... chocolate. My brother had a bbq at his place, and he had a chocolate fountain gadget which he wanted to try out...
![[Image: DSC_3990.JPG]](http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/images/upload/DSC_3990.JPG)
My dad, admiring the chocolate. It was good chocolate indeed. Perhaps the focus should have been the other way round... on the box instead. What do you think?
![[Image: DSC_3984.jpg]](http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/images/upload/DSC_3984.jpg)
And I give you... the chocolate fountain!
![[Image: DSC_4012.jpg]](http://www.shuttertalk.com/forums/images/upload/DSC_4012.jpg)

Wow! More great shots.
Mathew, Amazing. I do not usually care for seagulls. The first is exceptional. Also, it is a good thing you weren't to the left of the leaning tower of C.N.
I can't imagine how many city blocks would get taken out.
Jules, I have a soft spot for choclate. Now I have a craving.
Patch, Love the boot. The content overrides any processing. I love it.

It's hard to keep up.
Adrian, I love the shot with your mates. You could use that as proof-of-residency in Australia.
Thanks for the compliment on the night shot, we'll come back to it eventually.
R90S; welcome and good photo. Focusing on a close moving object is a challenge all on its own.
Russt, the cat through the lattice is amazing. I don't want to reveal too much, but keep that one handy for next week.
Julian, thanks. It was your seagull shots that got me down to the waterfront. Too bad you didn't also reverse the focus of your father and the box; it would have been neat to see both versions. I suspect they'd both work, but having a photo of your father is nicer.
Patch, I like the toning. It suits the background, and brings a sense of location even with the short DOF.
Colin, I did figure out what you were talking about, and like the photo. (Personally, I hate pigeons, but like seagulls. At least gulls can fly, there's absolutely no excuse for pigeons.) If you look at the bird flying past the tower, you can see it's angled upwards slightly. The tower doesn't actually lean that far over in real life. All it'll take out are some condos under construction, though, so it wouldn't be a loss.

Patch... love the hills hoist in the background of the boot! It really compliments the boot itself. My only problem with that shot is that you called it "da boot" and not "Das Boot" (the famous WW2 Submarine movie)

Jules, I think I put on about 2kg just looking at those chocolate shots of yours! I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to clean up (although I would like to have been the one to lick the bowl). Great shots though
And Matt, the clarity in that first gull shot is amazing! I love the way you can see light shining through its feathers, and you somehow managed to capture its expression perfectly.
