January 29th marks the start of the Year of the Dog in the Chinese calendar. If there's a festival better suited to the pack on this forum, I can't imagine what it would be.

For those who have access to new year's celebrations, go enjoy and bring back plenty of pictures.
For people born in 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, or 2006, this is their year. Let's celebrate them as well, and include their photos here too.
And, if you or someone you know literally
is a dog, this is their spot.
Archived pictures are welcome as well as new ones.
Matthew!
Nooo... what
have
you
done!!
oops... how did that get there? rofl...
Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

Rufus, NN, those are some amazingly cute shots. "Not Me" is fantastic.
noisynoodle Wrote:(ADDED LATER: I've actually read the challenge properly now and I'm not sure you wanted any dog pics. I just saw "Year of the Dog...
Dog pics are great, New year's celebration pics are good, portraits of people (my wife was born in the Year of the Dog, so I'll see if I can get a shot of her) -- this is a broad and fun topic. We've got to knock down the "trees and cups" assignment thread somehow, right?
(Julian: your last shot was perfect, and I appreciate its inclusion. Nice touch.)
Aww, I love the 'not me' photo Rufus!
hey what do you know? I was born year of the dog (1982)

Young and beautiful then, huh?

Why is NN hitting me with a large pan?? Is this a strange ritual, (bang!!!!), ouch!!!! :o

Thanks Peto.......I expect you noticed, but for anyone that didn't they're actually watching THEMSELVES from a home video on the TV. Sadly the GSD is no longer with us, but I bet everyone recognises that terrier!
More doggy snapshots:
Sleepy Poppy
These aren't ours
Cain....01/09/1995 to 17/07/2003 (we never managed to get a good shot of Mr C):

Sorry they're a bit big and scrolly!
Eeek....what's happening......the left side bar changed colour while I was submitting my post...It was black!
I was waiting to have a picture to post in order to give my comment on these pictures, but there was not doggy arround
Anyway... Beautiful pictures all

Yes it is a whip, but these are hunting beagles. The whip isn't used to actually hit them, just the sound (and maybe an occasional light flick) to keep them in order!
Cain was a very beautiful dog and the biggest GSD I've ever seen...he really was enormous, but also the most gentle dog I've ever known. He was a real "one off" and I still miss him.

Finally, I have my gear back and I have a dog photo I haven't posted before.
There's no PP effects here - just good old fill flash.
Mathew, I would really like to see more of the pooch.
This is a beautiful picture Matt

Another picture that you don't need to see the doggie's face to get the message

My sisters dog says hello

He likes to eat grass.
Then he vomits it up later.
