NT, i like the shot, very clean and calm looking...... if only i had nice canals and whatnot over here to shoot

Nice reflections... though I think it needs a stronger subject in the frame. The trees, bridge, white knobby things... all are interesting but don't quite have enough pulling power IHMO. Perhaps it was the weather - a splash of sunshine might have brightened things up...
Sorry, did I kill too hard?

If the wind blows a little there are no reflections, which is what I was trying to get.
A similar photo was knocked, because there was too much water in the foreground.
The weather was overcast and it was about 4.00 pm GMT so our winter.
It is a lock, not a bridge by the way.
I often wonder about critique, as different people see the same subject totally at odds with one another. But all viewpoints are taken on board.

You have got lots of interesting things that we don't, so shoot what you have. Other folks find it very interesting.
i.e. great big waves, miles of emptiness, kangaroos & koala's, Les Paterson,

Shapes hold my attention if they're placed in ways that catch my eye easily and your picture has several interesting 'triangular' shapes as well as some slopes that are lines up nicely with the triangle - thus complementing them imho.
See the point at the top of the towpath (or is it a jetty?) - and there's also a point made in the sky/water reflection . and the shapes of the path and water kinda 'fan out' from right to left ....... against the slope of the treetops and background hill ....... then everything coverges back down towards the original point on the right side of the frame.
I like pix that are composed in that way -- with 'lines and shapes'. Subtle but effective - for me anyway.

I like your picture because I can see an interesting composition... The same as Polly I like to see shapes and forms in landscapes... I see a very nice diagonal running up and then the hills and a blue sky... Your composition also is nice because it has a nice reflecion and trees with different colors to work with...
I hope you don't mind I worked on your picture... Sometimes is easier for me to show than to write all... Anyway, I suggest something like this...

There is a bit of nise in the hills so that is why I couldn't work well with that color... Maybe in the original file you could run a noise reduction filter, and then work with your picture...

I have just been trying to find the original, to check the exif, but I lost it. I had brightened it a little.
It looks Ok Irma, but if another boat comes along, he's gonna have nowhere to fasten his boat to.
I have a lot taken in summer also, but I don't like them all. Autumn (fall) is best when the leaves are all different colours.

Nice shot, the only thing that bothered me was the boat Key that Irma removed. My eye kanded on that all the time. I felt it should of been further from the edge, or not there at all.

According to my exif it was taken a 03 02 41 which makes it in the middle of the night
