Got you with that title, didn't I? 
I was just perusing the blog of one of our new members, alastair_hm, and came across this tutorial that he linked to.

It's a tutorial on how to make digital images look... well, like a real photo sitting on a desktop. Hm.. you look confused still... ok, here's an example ripped from the page:

How cool does that look?!?!
It's for users of Macromedia fireworks, although I think most of the concepts can be applied to photoshop too. I'm not sure about the Bézier points and deformations that he applies to make the corners raised though... can that be done?
