Hi,
how are you?
Let's have a little fun with this assignment. I want to see greetings -- it could be your own to us, a welcome sign on a shop's door or your city limits, anything that you can imagine -- I just want to see photographs of greetings and goodwill. If you look, it's all around us; we just need to see it.
This should be easy, engaging, and creative. Please, let's all take new photos for this assignment, and let's all share our greetings with each other.
Nîmen hâo !
OK, I will start the ball rolling - Port Stephens Council has just finished erecting welcome signs around our area at great cost, now we, the ones who have to pay for them are taking bets on how long it will be before the graffiti artists go to work on them!
as you can see they are pristine :/
those graffiti artist could not resist...
Gosh! They have struck already - will let the Council know where to send the summons

Hint: The graffiti artist is female. The only way to combat graffiti is to get it washed off right away before more is added to it.
Matthew, you are being really creative on the assignments, I like this one, will have to work for it!

Thanks; and me too! I've never done anything along these lines before. Usually I have an idea of what assignment I want to post days in advance, and have tested them to see how photographable they are, but this was something of a last-minute change. We're all experiencing this one together.
(That graffiti still has me laughing... everyone says hello in their own way, even the ones with spray paint.)
Not a great photo but it fits the theme. My welcome nat at my studio door. The little door hanger says "Wipe your paws"

We were driving somewhere and while at a stop sign I noticed these grackles involved in one of their rituals.
I instantly thought of this assignment, so I asked Sylvia to give me a moment, rolled down the window and shot four fast exposures.
It's just a snapshot, but they sure do look like they are greeting each other, and for all I know that is exactly what they were doing.

Haha, great shot Keith. The must be japanese!

I certainly haven't taken many photos for this assignment, but I've really enjoyed it just the same. I've taken a couple of nice days to walk around the city, looking for the positive and welcoming aspects of life. I
heard many friends greeting each other, but was looking for other manifestations with my camera.
I've never seen a happier store. (but no, I didn't go in.)
On wednesday I met a friend to go gallery-hopping as part of Contact, Toronto's month-long photography festival. Checking our our rendezvous, I called to let her know I'd be on a park bench when she came looking for me. My first words of the conversation - "Hi, how are you?"
And finally, it's the start of warm weather here. What more greeting could you need?
