Was at Simon Fraser University working yesterday. At the end of my day I saw this Italian Greyhound tethered to a bench while mom was in getting some stuff at the store.

That dog needs a meal or two Big Grin
Looks like a well behaved animal. Like the first shot ... ... ... Wink
Very beautiful dog... so elegant... and very nice color...

Lovely picture Colin... Smile

Pity I can't have a doggie like this one... with me it would lose that elegant figure in two weeks... Big Grin

I was thinking on the same lines.
Eat your potatoes or you will look like that.Big Grin

Actually he/she looks very fit and muscular, and interested in the camera in #2.

What are you trying to tell us Irma.?
Great capture of his expression.
Good work on the contrast in #1, you really made the dog stand out against the gray wall, not bad!

Thanks guys and gals. She was such a sweet shy dog. The owner was surprised she was comfortable with me. I said that she must know a Petographer when she see's one and handed her a card. Big Grin
Great shot - I can never make up my mind whether these dogs are elegant or ugly, I think this one more elegant.

In Mexico we say that everything takes after the owner....

I am sure you can guess why she would lose that elegant (thin) figure with me .... Sad
Nice captures Colin.

The first one is my favoruite.
One thing that distracts me though is the rectangular flare/reflection in the upper left corner. was it flare ? or was it shot thru a window ?

Second image is nice aswell, composition works well. Even though would have liked a little more shallow dof to isolate the subject.

You probely got your self a new client aswell. Good work.

thanx for sharing

Thanks Paul. I do not know of any flare you are talking about. I was outside taking these shots and as far as dof goes, all I could get was f5.6 from the camera. I do agree more dof would have been much nicer. These were taken at 400iso, f5.6 using a Tamron 28-200 f3.8-5.6
I thought a touch more editing might be in order. Whatcha think? Smile

Im sorry Colin, LOL its not a reflection its a lighter section in the stone wall sorry about that. The second picture works much better for me now.

Great job.

First one is better, edit looks like overkill. Thats IMHO.
Fantastic Colin! I love these shots - among my favourites from you.

I'm not normally a big fan of dogs, but the expression, pose, colour and feel of these shots (especially #1) is just brilliant! Great captures. Big Grin I think you should take more of your animal shots out of the studio. I'm not quite sure how practical that might be Wink but these shots really tell a story about the animal; and the environment is a big part of that story.

My only very minor complaint is the colour, location and style of your signature in shot #1... the way it currently appears it.. umm... reminds me of dog poo! Big Grin Big Grin Much better in #2.
I like very much the effect on your last try...

I would like to add that to me a tighter crop would be better... The bench takes more room that the dog in the picture and the bench looks to me a bit slanted ... My suggested crop would be just below the green light, to the right just where the metal thing in the floor starts, leaving the foot and the arm of the bench...

I know it is a very drastic crop, and focus only in the subject... takes away a lot of the environment that probably you want to show as part of the picture... but, anyway it is just an idea and I wanted to share with you... Smile
Adrian, Now that you mention that about my sig I absolutely must change it. :o I got impatient when I applied it. It is my actual hand writing that I scanned and turned into a layer that I can copy and past with each photo but the colour change works best if I do it before I copy and paste. I did it after the fact. I am also taking my camera with me more often when I leave home so hopefully I'll encounter more photo ops like this one.I appreciate your feedback. Thanks. Big Grin

Irma, I will try a different crop. The slant however is a tough one as the sidewalk sloped downward from the buildings to the road. If you look you will see a bit of a lean to the left of the buildings. I forgot to rotate it but it would also make the slope of the bench even worse. Thanks for the feedback.Smile
Very nice shots, C. I'm torn between seeing the beauty of the purebread lines and also seeing the sort of waif thing - that its too skinny... But what do I know about dogs anyway??

Great shots.
