I'm always impressed with Heron shots, never been able to get one! The damn things always fly away as soon as they see you around here. Even with a 500mm all I have gotten so far is blurred herons in flight, from the back usually!

This one lives in the lake just across from my house. Just a little walk into the trees, to the place he likes. At first, he flew away each time I showed up. Gradually, he got to see me as a noisy, but harmless shore creature. He's still wary, but tolerates my presence.

Patience is the key. Once they get used to you, they'll do all sorts of interesting things.

I love herons, they are beautiful. Shot no 1 gets my vote, love the colours and reflection
