The first time in my life, yesterday I found myself shooting outdoors, Second week of January. We had some real nice n mild weather. Supposed to be freezing cold, but it wasn't, so there I went. These are smaller melting ice pieces on top of other melting ice plates, floating on the river. They get splashed with freezing cold water and melted by the Sun during days. Many shapes and forms can bee seen and honestly some of them look like skeletons or bones of animals. All shot from a distance with my 30D and 100-400mm lens,
Enjoy and comment as you wish. Cool

These are awesome pics John - it reminds me very much of jewelery or large diamonds in the way they capture the light. The dark surface does wonders in providing contrast to the little "gems"... Big Grin
S.T; These were about 3, 4-inches long in size, Glad you like em! Big Grin
Very nice images. Is the last one balanced on a point or is it a trick of the eye?
Great captures Smile
Smarti; I am not sure, as I was way far from these and I shot them around 350-mm
Almost like Julian, they remind me of crystal that is displayed in a store near here. They are displayed with rich blue backgrounds and lots of those little halogen lights. Looks very cool.
Haha, Peto, this is all natural, no display, or display by nature only! Big Grin
These are great...I like the heart shaped reflection in the last one. I'd have thought the ice cubes would have over exposed, but you can see straight through them.
